Very rare. First collection of poems by the author, who would go on to publish her most famous work (set in a fictional location in Kentucky), "Autobiography of a Female Slave," in 1856. Copy of Mary S. Ker of Natchez, Mississippi. Mattie Griffith Browne (1828-1906) was an anti-slavery novelist, a poet, and a suffragist.
