About this Item
Contemporary calf with spine label. 8vo. xi, 1, 237pp. Volume one only. Lacking frontispiece portrait. The third edition of Burns's first collection of poetry with two editions preceding it in 1786 and 1787. This edition is notable for the inclusion of "Tam o' Shanter" in Volume two. A good copy in what appears to be the original binding. The covers have some scuffing and light edgewear and the front cover hinge is a bit cracked near the top although the binding is quite secure. The text is good with some browning and light spotting and some faint creasing to the upper corner of some of the pages. The front endpapers are lacking in this copy and the book begins with the title page which is browned at the borders. Scarce. Seller Inventory # 11445
