About this Item
Later cloth and patterned boards. Small octavo. 16pp. Facsimile title page. Edited by John Payne Collier. Originally printed in 1596 this work is a coarse satiric poem rich in allusion to Elizabethan women's mode of dress and behavior. It was reprinted for the Percy Society along with Charles Bansley's "A Treatyse Shewing and Declaring the Pryde and Abuse of Women now a dayes" but was afterwards suppressed. This is an example of the castrated edition with edits on pages 5 & 9. A good copy with some soiling and wear to the text. The text is lightly spotted and has a few small chips and edge tears but is complete. The title page is a bit cropped at the right side. The binding is good with some rubbing and wear. Scarce.
