About this Item
Uncolored plat map for a proposed town on Isla de la Juventud, Cuba. 180 blocks are laid out and numbered, as are the streets. Some of the larger lots have owners identified. This development was proposed during the Republic of Cuba period, when Cuba was nominally independent but with significant United States influence and control over the country written into the constitution. Isla de la Juventud is the second largest island in Cuba, located about 30 miles south of the western portion of the main island. The town of Santa Fe is an old settlement on the eastern side of the island, first founded in 1830, Some of the streets from the proposed development on this map are still evident, but many have not. All of the names and labels on this map are in English, as clearly this development was aimed at the audience in the United States, not Cuba. Seller Inventory # m01664
