During the Seven Years War, a worldwide war, a struggle for supremacy was going on in Germany between the House of Austria and the rising Kingdom of Prussia of Frederick the Great (Friedrich der Grosse). The Battle of Kolín was an early battle of the seven Years' War. It ended in the defeat of Frederick the Great.
