About this Item
Town plan. Uncolored engraving. Image measures 15" x 22 1/2". Milan:1876 This scarce town plan of Florence published in 1876 depicts the city in beautiful detail. Streets, buildings, parks, plazas, ruins, monuments, and waterways are all featured. A table in the right lists points of interest including palaces, churches, theaters, and other public establishments. In very good condition, with some faint scattered foxing, and minor wear to lower margin not affecting the image. Francesco Valllardi (1809-1895) was an mapmaker from a Milanese family of publishers, booksellers, and printers. His grandfather, also named Francesco, founded the publishing house in the 18th century, and was succeeded by his songs Giuseppe and Pietro who operated under the imprint Fratelli Vallardi. Francesco was one of Pietro's sons, and worked under his own imprint - as did his brother Antonio. Seller Inventory # 315542
