Penciled on back: "Sinclair Lewis Author of 'Arrowsmith,' 'Babbitt,' 'Main Street,' etc. Mr. Lewis' new book 'Arrowsmith' [1925] is about a scientist. It is just published by Harcourt, Brace and Company (This is not in Lewis' hand). Lewis (1885-1951) was the first American writer to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.
