Large octavo, pp.112/106/144/97. Recent good quality half-calf on marbled boards, occasional foxing particularly to first leaves of first item. Two contemporary engravings pasted onto two front blanks. Owner's label on front pastedown, John Squire Martin. Four double-columned works by Chambers. The third item, The Sea, dated 1840, appears to be particularly rare. It covers descriptions of the ocean and ocean meteorology and the social organisations of ships, Alexander Selkirk, the American Sailor's Story, the North Pole Gazette, a trip from New York to Philadelphia and a Voyage of Elephant from India (see photo).
