About this Item
Porter built locomotives adapted to severe requirements and difficult conditions for which ordinary railroad locomotives were not suited. They were the largest producer of industrial locomotives in the country. Smith and Porter built their first locomotive in 1867. Porter's last locomotive was built in 1951. 151 pages with builder's half-page locomotive photographs and locomotive data and information printed below. Bound in original dark blue cloth with lettering stamped in gilt and light blue. Owners' names on the preliminary page. A small mottled spot just off the head of the spine on the front cover, and thin mottled strip along the leading edge of the front cover, else a near fine copy. Seller Inventory # 38509
