About this Item
Third edition - published in 1904. The book was originally published by Hatchards in 1882. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine, and gilt tiles and publisher's device on the front board. The gilt on the spine has dulled with age but those on the front board are still nice and bright. The boards show some rubbing and wear commensurate with age and handling over the last 120 years, with some fading to the cloth at the edges and especially to the spine. No serious bumps or creases. Corners still quite sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges clean. Internally also very good, with no inscriptions other than a pencilled date on the title page and some notes in pencil on the rear endpaper (please see scans). There is some straining at the gutter between pages 112/3 due to the quite cheap paper used. The brown endpapers are also very brittle, and the front free endpaper has detached but is still present. Pages clean with no foxing. No dustwrapper. ***352 pages. 190mm x 130mm. ***A third edition of "Poems and Idylls" by Victorian poet Rev. John Cullen, Vicar of Radcliffe-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire. A fragile production and uncommon in any edition. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Seller Inventory # 9027
