8vo. 7.5 x 5.5 inches. viii + 136 + [2] pp. + [4] pp.; publisher's advertisements. Bound in original half cloth over green stiff card boards with printed paper title labels in green. Rough cut edges. A little wear to extremities with light staining of boards, browning of flyleaves and foxing of edges, preliminaries and scattered in margins; otherwise a very good copy. Pictorial bookplate and signature of John F. Sullivan, 1926 on first free endpaper. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of half title. The Irish playwright, Sean O'Casey (1880-1964) was a nationalist sympathiser. This the third play of his Dublin Trilogy, set in the city's tenements and showing the effect of revolutionary politics on working class life. The action of the play takes place in 1915 and in 1916 during the Easter Rising. The title refers to the starry plough flag of the Irish Citizen Army. The text supplies the cast list of the first performance at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin in February 1926. Reprint of the first edition set in the same month as it appeared.
