All these in large format paperback, in GOOD condition, all with creasing and some rubbing to covers, threaded spines intact but worn. Also Orlando's Magic Carpet, small landscape VG condition in dustjacket, 1958 but with a publisher-clipped dustjacket with revised decimal pricing of 40p. Also, a handwritten signed letter from the author from 1976 thanking the sender for her 'fan' letter and commenting on their negative experience of Foyles. Also, newspaper clipping from Daily Telegraph March 1976, with an article about the author. Kathleen Hale OBE (24 May 1898 26 January 2000) was a British artist, illustrator, and children's author. She is best remembered for her series of books about Orlando the Marmalade Cat. Kathleen Hale married Douglas McClean, a young doctor working in medical research, and they settled in Hertfordshire. She created the marmalade cat Orlando and his world to entertain her children at bedtime, and in the late 1930s she began producing her series of books about him, among the earliest picture books produced using photolithography.
