xxxi, [iii], 223, [1] pages. The titel page is engraved with a vignette. In old half leather, the front board has been heavily scratched or gouged. LACKS page127-129 which are provided in photocopied facsimile. It would appear that this poem was omitted from the second edition of 1805 and was not bound in here as the leaf with pages 127-128 is missing, but the leaf with page 129-130 has had a blank leaf pasted over it to hide the Butter Cross poem. Several pencil notes relating to the book and its owners. Front pastedown has a small numbered paper label and an old bookseller's ticket. Front free end paper has an ink number. Half title page has an ink inscription identifying Johnson as Curate of Hatfield near Thorne in Yorkshire. Also with ink ownership inscription - Frances Simpson's book the gift of her uncle Mr John Green Stainforth 1799. A pencil note refers to page xv of the subscriber's list where the name of Mr Green Stainforth has had a J added in ink. Small hole to the half title page. The engraved title page has had the year of publication added neatly in ink. Spotting and soiling to pages throughout. Seller Inventory # 012959
