This antique map of Ontario and Quebec was produced by O.W. Gray as part of his "National Atlas" in 1884. Gray was involved in the production of Atlas' from ca. 1871 - 1886. unbound. Map. Lithograph with original hand coloring. Image measures 17 1/2" x 28 1/2". This is a beautiful map of Ontario and Quebec dating to 1876. The map extends from Lake Huron east to include the Quebec and the westernmost parts of Maine. Incredibly detailed with cities, towns, rivers, railroads, the map also notes some Indian reservations and tracts along the northern portions. Verso shows a map of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island, and a map of the Territory of Alaska (Russian America), ceded by Russia to the United States. The map is in good condition with minor toning along the centerfold and margins. Ormando W. Gray was a map publisher active in the later half of the 19th century. A civilian engineer and surveyor, he worked with several other map publishers like Henry Walling and Colton. His state and county atlases are well known. This is a good example of his work.
