MODERN LIBRARY EDITION WITH DUST JACKET Bound in green balloon cloth (spine #5) with Kent end papers. Very short-lived binding style, in use 1929 - Spring 1930. This gold-heavy design was planned before the 1929 crash, and was quickly deemed too expensive for Depression-era book publishing. The gold torchbearer was replaced with a blindstamped torchbearer, and in 1930, the gold tree was dropped. The book is only good. Binding and spine slightly soiled, very bright gilt, spine split at title page but not separated, small chip on top corner of front title page. Contents are clean with no owner's signature or other writing in text. The dust jacket is good - chipping on top and bottom, slight soiling to spine. The back of the dust jacket lists mentions 175 titles matching a 1930 printing.
