Texte avec carte de Fontainebleau en Francais. Sd. c1843. 1/4 leather, title and decoration in gilt to spine (dos orne) with marbled boards. Ribbon marker. Fold out map of Fontainebleau dated 1839. vi, 299 + 4 pp. Rare early edition including the 'Quatre Promenades'. The 'promenades' were not introduced until 1843. Research suggests that the rights to the walks were acquired by Denecourt from Etienne Jarmin who had produced an earlier guide and devised the walks. They first appeared in the 'Nouvel Indicateur de Fontainebleau' published in 1843. The book commences with 6 pp of information for the tourist: travel, hotels, cafes, post etc. Light rubbing to spine ends. Some spotting (quelques rousseurs). The map on stiff paper has two tears; where it is attached and the bottom margin which do not affect the map itself. Seller Inventory # 003113
