2nd Edition 1837. From the library of Chris Viveash.With the bookplate of Chris Viveash, an author and contributor to the Jane Austen Society Report. His friend David John Gilson a highly respected Jane Austen Scholar and bibliographer. The second printing of the first one volume edition and the first illustrated edition with a frontispiece illustration and a smaller vignette on the engraved title. It also the 3rd British edition of Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Bound in the original Purple Standard library cloth by Bentley. Provenance - Gilson D7. Provenance: From the library of David Gilson & Chris Viveash. Scarce. Gilson comments 'So few of these reprints survive in libraries, and even fewer in original condition, that the following details must be incomplete.' (Gilson p. 225). The book is about good with worn and rubbed cloth/edges but complete. Gilt on spine dulled. Contents good with light foxing and marking to most pages. Title page, pages and frontis age toned and foxed. Light staining to some pages. More images can be taken upon request. Ref17518. Seller Inventory # 025866

All overseas orders with priority shipping (8 days+) will be sent by either tracked airsure or international signed for. The slower postal rates (14 days +) will be sent by standard airmail and will take longer to arrive. We recommend to all our customers to use the priority shipping as this is a much quicker and secure method of shipment.
All books where possible will be sent in wrap around cardboard boxes and bubble wrapped.
