Spine in 6 compartments with title on green, false raised bands & headband. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Booksellers plate front end paper 'J Baker Bookseller Mall Place, Clifton', Bristol based seller. Back board scuffed / rubbed. Joints slightly cracked, top of spine rubbed. , Some light foxing to the plates, otherwise a good copy. Steel-engraved vignette title, frontis Firpiece, 30 plates of views, map of Egypt, folding panorama of Alexandria, map of Thebes, 17 wood-engravings in the text. First published in 1849. Bartlett (1809-1854) had travelled in Egypt in 1845, making sketches of the scenery, and the fine steel-engravings in The Nile Boat are by some of the leading engravers of the day, including Cousen, Brandard, and Willmore.
