Widely regarded as still the best work on the sinking of the Titanic, in 209 pages with Index, schematic of the ship endpapers + 32 pages of black-and-white vintage photos in two sections throughout text. With half cream-colored/half navy blue cloth over boards, this hardcover is a later "W" printing of the 1955 FIRST EDITION. Condition is VG-: generally quite clean, but foxing to some page & photo margins. Pages creamy white & unmarked. Minor rubbing to extremities, heavier to lower edges from shelf, mild corner bumping. The price-clipped DJ is Fair, with some holes & chips to extremities, heavy rubbing along spine edges, chipping & both ends of spine. Nicely protected against further damage in new clear mylar cover.
