34pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 38 characteristic Harper's engravings, including a full-page view of Granada De Nicaragua from the west, light occasional foxing, one internal page-only was damaged and is here presented in reproduction, salvaged from damaged issues of Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Volume XI, Nos. 65 & 66, October / November, 1855. Illustrations include a view on San Juan River, Fort San Carlos, the ship Columbus on the lake, Playa of Granada, a view of the volcano of Mombacho from the south, the crater, a view of Crater Lake, a hacienda near Granada and a view of Lake Nicaragua, Indigo works, Lake of Masaya, Lave-field from the volcano of Masaya, various examples of artifacts, the great plain of Leon, Cathedral of Leon, Calla Real at Leon, bridge at Leon, a procession during Holy-Week, the entrance to the Port of Realejo, several examples of idols, the landing at Realejo, and El Puerto de Zempisque.
