Woodcuts printed by Kaspar Braun and von Dessauern xylography, Munich. Karl Simrock (1802-1876) gave his Nibelungen translation from old to modern german in 1827. ABOUT : Until the eighteens century only oral sources remains, but antic manuscripts then appears and translations were made. These by Simrock is a metrical one, akin to the original lied. Von Carolsfeld woodcuts (1794-1872), a nazarean post romantic artist, are between a biblical and a neogothic style. DESCRIPTION EN FRANCAIS : Texte en allemand en écriture gothique. Un volume 22,5 x 29,5 cm de 420 pages. Reliure en plein cuir estampé et doré, tranches dorées, parfait état. Emboîtage d'origine frotté aux angles. Rousseurs sur quasiment l'ensemble de l'exemplaire, particulièrement en regard des illustrations en raison de l'acidité de l'encre. Les bois de von Carolsfeld ont été imprimés en xylographie par Kaspar Braun et von Dessauern, Munich. La traduction en allemand moderne de Karl Simrock (1802-1876) date de 1827. A PROPOS : Jusqu'au dix-huitième siècle les Nibelungen n'étaient plus connus que par la tradition orale, mais la découverte d'un manuscrit du XIIIe siècle en 1755 permit des traductions plus précises. Celle de Simrock respecte au mieux la métrique des lied. Les bois de l'artiste post-romantique von Caroslfeld (1794-1872) tiennent à la fois de l'illustration biblique et du néo-gothique.
