About this Item
folio. A large bound volume of facsimile issues of the New York Evening Post, one of the earliest newspapers printed in North America, dating from January 6, 1746 - December 29, 1746. Each leaf is printed on one side only, making each page of each newspaper, in effect, a broadside. These pages contain important news from throughout the colonies under the reign of George II, as well as international news and local advertising. There is no bibliographic data printed in the book, so the publisher, date and place are unknown. Bound in blue cloth. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for a remnant of a previous bookplate to front pastedown, with later professional inner hinge repair. Mild rubbing and edge wear. Overall a handsome volume and invaluable source of colonial New York history. Seller Inventory # 15850
