About this Item
32 sepia plates with tissue guards of works by the Belgian artist, Antoine Wiertz. As well as his own work (ranging from the erotic to religious, a portrait of Quasimodo to that of a sleeping porter), there is a photo of the interior of the museum; plus Wiertz's portrait. The card covers, with a tipped-in in portrait (possibly a photo) of the artist on the front one, are again sepia but also quite tanned in places; with some markings/discolouration (main image). Internally, while the book's binding is intact it is nevertheless fragile. (The first tissue guard has detached from the book block). Both the plates and tissue guards are to some extent tanned and/or spotted; the latter particularly so. Limited images possible due to this fragility. Text* is in French and English. 200 x 145 mm (oblong).*Painting titles. NB no publication date. Has the look/feel of a turn of 19th/20th century publication but possibly later. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request an additional payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2334.
