Hardback, 9 x 6 inches. Halfbound calf and brown cloth to boards, with gilt line edging, raised banding and gilt decorations to spine. Top page edges gilt. Grey endpapers. Fine binding by Hatchards & Co. In very good condition. Some handling marks to cover, some rubbing to spine, slightly nicked at top spine end. Corners bumped. Bookplate to endpaper ?L.E. Morrice.? Binders stamp to corner. Prelims clean and bright, no penned inscriptions. A couple of occasional minor handling marks else pages and plates all very clean and bright throughout. Else a very good clean and tight copy. All plates present. 408pp. With 13 hand coloured steel engravings by John Leech. Original cloth covers bound in at rear. A later character of Surtees? humorous British Fox hunters is ?Mr. Sponge?; fox-hunting, and fortune-hunting are his specialties.
