About this Item
Tall 32mo. 3.5 x 5.875 in. 655, [3], [28 Propers of the France & Canada] pp. Full leather, bordered and ornamented in blind on both covers, titled in gilt on spine, all edges red-under-gold; gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers. Lavishly illustrated by the illustrious religious artist RENÉ DE CRAMER (1876-1951) with 300 reproductions of black & white drawings, each tinted with a single color according to the color of liturgical ornaments of a particular feast, e.g. green, purple, white (for yellow) etc. Title page printed in red & black. Although handmissals for children were not uncommon, this missal, a true daily Roman missal, adapted the text of each proper (introit, epistle, collect, etc.) to a child's level without abridging its essence: no other child's missal thus succeeded. Uncommon. Very good. Covers heavily rubbed at extremities. Pages 63-66 loose, text otherwise secure, clean & bright. Binding sound. Seller Inventory # 850
