12mo (19 cm), pp. 510, plus 15 pages of advertising at front and 11 pages of "Complete Catalog of Bohn's Libraries." Fourth edition, dated 1953 on title page. Full dark green leatherwith decorative stamping and gilt spine text. Deckle edge. Translated from the Swedish by Mary Howitt. Gift inscription from 1884 on title page, foxing to ad and catalog pages, and edge wear to boards including a 1/2" tear at top of spine. No jacket. Bremer was considered the "Swedish Jane Austen" and praised by Emerson and Whitman. She was also a prominent and early crusader for women's rights. (Wikipedia). Seller Inventory # 26796
