With the armorial bookplate of Francis Frederick Fox (1833-1915), with the Motto: J'ai ma foi tenu à ma puissance. Fox, the second son of Francis Ker Fox of Brislington House, was an oil and colour merchant, President of the Grateful Society in 1869, Master of the Society of Merchant Ventures in 1878 and 1879, as well as being the Sheriff in 1894. JP for Bristol and Gloucestershire and an Alderman for the city from 1865, as well as an author of numerous books. Small booksellers label inside the front cover "William George's Sons Ltd. Booksellers, 89 Park Street, Bristol". xvi, 227pp, [1], 40pp, bound in blind stamped brown cloth, yellow endpapers, with the binding and hinges tight. Covers show edge/corner wear, with a scuff on the back cover, spine sunned. Interior shows occasional pencil marking or notation.
