1849 copy of the Memoirs of the Public and Private Life of William Penn by Thomas Clarkson. New Edition with a preface in reply to the charges against his character made by Mr Macaulay in his 'History of England' by W E Forster. Illustrated with an engraving of Penn's treaty with the Indians, a plan of the city of Philadelphia and a map of Pensylvania. Brown stamped boards in fair/good condition. Describing as fair due to the amount of fading present to the front and spine. A little shelf wear mainly to the spine ends. Previous owner's illegible signature to front page. Map and plan still present. Occasional foxing within. Seller Inventory # 000464
