Previous owner's bookplate front fixed endpaper of each volume. 10 plates throughout the work which include a frontispiece in each volume, one fold-out image and one large fold-out chart: "The Pedigree of the Family of Evelyn". There is fading to the top of the back cover of volume 1 and the top of the front cover of volume 5. First published in 1818, this expanded new edition done in 1827. Diary of John Evelyn from 1640 until his death in 1706. Title continues: To which is subjoined The Private Correspondence between King Charles I. and Sir Edward Nicholas; also between Sir Edward Hyde, Afterwards Early of Clarendon, and Sir Richard Browne, Ambassador to the Court of France in the Time of King Charles I. and the Usurpation.
