About this Item
The Mediterranean Naval Situation 1908-1914; by Paul G. Halpern; Harvard University Press, Cambridge MA, 1971. From the blurb During the early part of the twentieth century all the Mediterranean powers were transforming or at least expanding their navies from mere coastal defense forces to modern war machines, thus adding to a highly unstable political situation. The naval challenge of the Triple Alliance to Britain and especially to France was a serious one. Indeed, this study demonstrates that the Mediterranean situation had great influence on the plans and estimates of the British Admiralty. Paul G. Halpern, who is Associate Professor of History, Florida State University, has uncovered new material in London, Paris, Rome, and Vienna that helps to explain the plans and dispositions on Entente and Triple Alliance forces at the outbreak of the war. This book, 415 pages, is in near fine condition, the only fault is a small remainder mark on the bottom of the pages. The dust jacket is also in near fine condition and is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. A high-quality book, as to be expected from this press. Seller Inventory # 2231b
