About this Item
1977 second edition, Bijutsu Shuppan-Sha (Tokyo, Japan), oversize 11 x 13 7/8 inches tall white monk's cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt Japanese characters to front cover, gilt lettering to spine, color pictorial endpapers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white and color photographs and drawings, glossary and index, 272 pp. A very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in an only slightly edgeworn dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~RCL~ [7.0P] Divided into two parts: Ikebana in Japanese Life, with 8 chapters and essays by Donald Richie; and Ikebana in the Home, with lessons from three 'schools' by three different masters. Includes the basic techniques of Ikebana, a chronology of 'The Long River of Ikebana,' and a glossary-index. A beautiful book with thorough information and excellent instruction. This second printing contains additional material and was requested by Ikebana International as a tribute to the founder, Ellen Gordon Allen (1892-1977). Ikebana International is a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of ikebana, headquartered in Tokyo. Seller Inventory # RCL-1132-14056
