[x], 272 pages + frontispiece + 2 plates + 1 folding map. Grey cloth board with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Page dimensions: 217 x 140mm. Top page edges gilt. "Three quarters of a mile out of the little country town of Ulverston, in that part of North Lancashire known as Furness, on the edge of a tract of common land from which it takes its name, stands Swarthmoor Hall."
