In good condition. Light wear to extremities. Corners and end bands lightly rubbed. Hinges lightly cracked from wear. Gilt finishing bright and clean! Spines slightly darkened from oxidation. Nicely marbled fore edges. Armorial bookplate of Robert Crawfurd on front pastedowns. Old hand inscription R. Crawfurd The gift of his friend Cox Eton Coll 1819 on top right corner of front flyleaf. Light spotting throughout with minimal toning. Bindings tight and intact. Please see photos. Robert Southey was an English poet of the Romantic school, and Poet laureate from 1813 until his death. Like the other Lake Poets, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Southey began as a radical but became steadily more conservative as he gained respect for Britain and its institutions.
