First edition, with dust wrapper. Blue boards with gilt lettering are discoloured. Head and tail of spine rubbed and bumped. Binding is neat and tidy. Page edges are showing some discolouration, particularly at the head edge. Previous bookseller's stamp on front pastedown. Pages throughout lightly discoloured due to age. Pastedowns are discoloured, so too are the free endpapers. Previous owner's name on top corner verso front free endpaper, else book is in good condition. Dustjacket is well rubbed and thumbed. Spine sunned and bears heavy rubbing. Small pieces missing from the tail of spine. Some more signs of use and creasing towards the edges. Edges bear some tears, these have been industriously patched up with dark packing tape on the underside. Although over the years this packing tape has caused discolouration on the front and back covers (see image). Back cover has some scuffing and rubbing. General discolouration. Price clipped. Head edge has some small tears and one or two chips, else in fair condition. *We always describe the faults of our books meticulously but they usually present better than they sound.
