- Octavo, brown boards backed with black cloth & titled in gilt in a dust wrapper. The edges of the boards are slightly faded & there is light creasing to the head of the spine. The dust jacket is rubbed, chipped & creased with soiling to its rear panel. The spine is faded. xxi & 297 pages. Illustrated with 6 black-and-white plates, including a frontispiece. There is some staining to the bottom edge with tiny stains to the bottom edges of a few pages. Good. "Intimate portraits of the major masters and events of art in our time" [From the dust wrapper copy]. Flanner's subjects are Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse and writer Andre Malraux.
