Moderate wear to extremities with rubbing to hinges, spine, end bands and trips. Modest soiling to surface. Overall lightly toned in appearance. Old hand ownership in small lettering at top left corner of front cover. Gilt decoration slightly tarnished. End papers lightly toned with old hand ownership of Margaret H. Kinitzer dated 1916. Front leaves shaken. Gutters tender. Plates in beautiful shape, bright and clean. All plates present. Japanese Iris loose from binding, but present. Free of markings. Please see photos. A stunning Edwardian era flower book very much in the same fantastical realm as Les Fleurs animees by J.J. Grandville originally published in 1830. Verses by James Lane Allen, Heinrich Heine, Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Clement Scott, Margaret Deland, Thomas Bailey Aldrich, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Tennyson, Christina Rossetti and others.
