The Lord of the Rings JRR Tolkien Signature set from 1978, by Houghton Mifflin. A nice hardcover set of The Lord of the Rings, with Tolkien's signature on the slipcase and cover illustrations based on a design by J.R.R. Tolkien This set includes: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The Fellowship of the Ring is the 16th printing, by Houghton Mifflin. The Two Towers is the 15th printing, by Houghton Mifflin. The Return of the King is the 15th printing, by Houghton Mifflin. All three books have a ex-libry sticker with "from the library of C.T. Anderson", showing a gull flying over the sea and C.T. Anderson written in balpoint. Slipcase features The Lord of the Rings in red and Tolkien's autograph is reproduced in black. The covers follow the same pattern, but add a design by J.R.R. Tolkien. What is nice about this set is that the colour used in the one ring and eye design is used inside the book and as top stain. Making this a very good looking set. These hardcover books are fine unread condition, just showing some minor specks and scratches on the outside of the unclipped jackets. The slipcase has minimal wear to its corners, and is one of the better I have seen. Common to this sets the white has darkened a little and the glue used to produce these sets shows, making a wrinkled surface and making the glue pattern visible. Some minor rubbing to bottom. Overall a very impressive fine looking set. All maps present and in unopened condition. A nice hardcover set of The Lord of the Rings, with the signature and colorful matching top stains and endpapers. Seller Inventory # CLP1018
