A detailed history of the London stage from the time of "The Theatre", "The Curtain", "The Hope", "The Globe" and others of the Elizabethan and Stuart periods to the late Victorian era. Sections include: The Restoration Theatre, The West-End Theatres, The Transpontine Theatres, The East End Theatres, Minor and Suburban Theatres and Extinct Theatres. A tight set with spine edges a bit bumped but gilt lettering still bright; bit of foxing to prelims and half title of Vol.I and the title page of Vol.II. Overall, a very pleasing set.
