Red cloth with gilt sp. lettering, sp. faded, all extremities rubbed, 4.5 cm thin strip of pigment loss to bottom fr. joint, generally clean. xii + 452, a coloured 4 pp. map of 'The Ancient Borough of Southwark' slipped in back 'Drawn by J. P. Sayer for the Strand Magazine', probably 1930s or 1940s.; pencil dated sig. of Derek Gibson (eminent cardiologist) to fr. pastedown, bottom end gutters seem to have had some sl. water damage which has leached cover pigment and caused v. small chip bottom fr. end-paper, faint hint of edge-tanning throughput, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked.
