Very good hardback copy in maroon boards with decorated/gilt to spine. dustjacket is rubbed, a little soiled in places and has a loss at top front outer corner and some tiny loss at top of spine, now protected in a clear mylar. Previous owner's name inside. No attempt to write a definitive Life of William Harvey has been made since 1897. Little is known of his domestic life, but in other respects a great deal of information has come to light. In this book Sir Geoffrey Keynes attempts to place harvey in his proper setting with a fully documented account of his relations with his colleagues at home and abroad, with the College of Physicians and St Bartholomew's Hospital, with his patients, his friends, and the two Kings of England whom he served.
