The Life of Martin Luther: Related from Original Authorities. With 16 Engravings, Moritz Meurer, Translated From the German by a Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Printed and Published by H. Ludwig & Co, New York, 1848, 694 pp, blind stamped leather, 9 x 6 , 8vo. In good condition. Light wear to extremities with moderate scuffing to surface of leather. Light dryness overall to binding. Hinges starting with small area of worming to bottom hinge, front board. Bottom extreme quite worn with light crushing to headpiece. Gilt tooling on spine bright. Small area of worming to rear board bottom right corner with areas of white staining at left center. End papers soiled with foxing and age-toning. W M SHEETZ HIS BOOK JANUARY 5 1850 stamped on second fly leaf. Interior lightly toned with age-staining and scattered foxing, moderate at times. Free of known markings. Light offsetting from plates. Binding remains tight and intact. Please see photos. Sheetz ownership, possibly related to Sheetz family convenience store. Sheetz was a common surname in Pennsylvania Dutch communities.
