"The Life and Letters of LEWIS CARROLL (Charles Dodgson)" by Stuart Dodgson Collingwood (Carroll's nephew). 1899; The Century Co.; New York. The book contains dozens of illustrations and photographs (including photographs of Alice Liddell, who is thought to be the inspiration for the character "Alice" of "Alice in Wonderland," as well as photographs taken by Carroll and illustrations drawn by him). Gilt top page edges. There is a Bibliography and an Index at the back of the book. Condition: Clean covers; the red cloth color has sun-faded a bit on the spine; there are a few tiny cloth tears at the top of the spine; sharp corners. Tight binding with no loose pages; partial crack at the rear hinge between the end paper and pastedown (despite the crack, the back cover is still firmly attached). The text pages are clean with no writing; pages 117-129 have a 1" tear at the tope edge. Small bookshop label affixed to the front end paper. Overall the book is in very good condition.
