Large undated single-volume hardback edition, c.1874 based on dated bibliography to rear, with no jacket as issued. In overall very good used condition with minor signs of age, handling and storage - red textured cloth boards, quarter bound in red leather, the spine with five raised bands and tan leather gilt title label, are rubbed to edges and corners scuffed. Binding tight and appears little read (bound by Wells & Co., London). Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; marbled page-ends slightly darkened with the odd spot of foxing here and there but text, map, marbled end-papers and illustrations bright and clear throughout. This book is both large (l: 265mm, w: 200mm, d: 55mm; 768pp plus Index) and heavy (over 2.5kg packaged). Photographs available. Not an old library book. Seller Inventory # 231182
