About this Item
Two volumes bound in one. The second features two title pages: a text version and one with a b/w engraving by J. Pye (image). Volume one has the text version only - which may suggest removal/loss - although there is no obvious indication of this. Half-leather boards with decorative marbled paper. Five raised gilt bands with a debossed title on the second from the head of the spine. Top edge is dark stained. Condition (external): in an overall sound condition with some scuffing and bumping at the corners and extremities; including along the outer hinge. Gilt bands are faded. Condition (internal): the main condition-related issue is where the inner joint has separated from the front board completely; revealing some of the backing material - see image. (The boards remain attached to the book block at the back). The front pastedown has a pasted-in name plate and some minor scribbling (image). The pages are mildly to moderately tanned with occasional spotting; more evident on the preliminary and final ones. There is a red cloth bookmark which has become detached. pp. v, 191 (vol. I), pp. 184 (vol. II)/32mo. The book's binding is very tight and this limits the images possible in terms of numbers and quality. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request an additional payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2347.
