Frontis engraving by Countess Feodora Gleichen. A collection of letters written by Swedish psychiatrist, Axel Munthe during his time in Naples. A Well loved copy owned by Caroline Sidney Sinkler. Sinkler's Bookplate and signature present on fpd and front flyleaf. Distant relative of Teddy Roosevelt, Sinkler was a philanthropist of the arts. Having a wide circle of friends, including Isabella Steward Gardner and Cecilia Beaux, she was also heavily involved in the bohemian art colony Dabsville, in Gloucester, MA. Association copy.
