The Letters of the British Spy. To Which is Prefixed a Biographical Sketch of the Author. Wirt served as U.S. Attorney General (1817-1829 the longest term in U. S. history) and was prosecutor of Aaron Burr. He was also a presidential candidate in the year of publication of this 1832 10th edition, revised and corrected, in original cloth.

Tenth edition revised and corrected, 12mo in sixes, pp. (1-6) adv, (7-9), 10-260, (8) adv., engraved frontispiece portrait. The biography runs 82 pages and is followed by the Letters which were originally published anonymously in September-October 1803 in the "Virginia Argus". Wirt was a candidate for the presidency in the same year as this 10th edition. Howes W 585, Sabin 104875. Original cloth, printed paper lettering piece. A very good example of early American cloth binding and seldom found as such. Very good copy with corners bumped but the cloth is unusually well preserved with even the endcaps still quite good.
