438 p. 18 cm. Whitman portrait opposite p. 29 with tissue guard intact. Softcover. Spine chipped and darkened. Some soiling and creases to covers. Front cover detached. Title page is a cancel. Cracking at pp. 80-81, "I Sing the Body Electric." Clipping attached to rear page. Ink signature on first leaf. The so-called "deathbed edition of 1891-92" is, technically speaking, not a distinct edition but a reprinting of the 1881-82 edition with "annexes." Whitman died March 26, 1892, making this "Leaves" the last of his lifetime. Title page probably a cancel because McKay had recently bought out Whitman's previous publisher, Rees Walsh, and chose to place his cancel title on Walsh's leftover unbound sheets.
