Second part of a six-part series published for "Uncle John's Library", with in-text illustrations and a hand-colored frontispiece. Penned by children's writer Sarah Trimmer (1741-1810), this part of "Ladder to Learning" contains "Fables consisting of words not exceeding three syllables" (title-page) including such titles as "The Lying Boy" and "The Bull and the Goat". Each includes a moral at the end. 12mo (5.25" by 4.25"), 122 pp. with in-text illustrations and hand-colored frontispiece. Sewn in original illustrated orange wrappers. Fair to good.
