Privately printed in 1757. Post 4to (10 x 8 ins); pp xlviii, [2], 510, [22]. With various engraved portraits pasted in including those of Sir Ralph Winwood, Principle Secretary of State and Privy Councellour to His Majesty King James the First, and Dudley Carleton, With the ownership signature to titlepage of Joseph Gulston (1745 1786), English collector and connoisseur, ex. Eton and Christ Church, Oxford, and Member of Parliament for Poole in Dorset, 1780-84. Also has armorial bookplate laid down on first pastedown of Lewis Montolieu (1761-1853), lieutenant-colonel of the 2nd Troop of Horse Guards and a director of the French Hospital in 1759. Bound in contemporary full calf, spine very rubbe, front board completely detached with a royal crest imprinted in gold. Contents very fresh and clean with fore-edge of the pages gold.
