A compact blue cloth, hardback book with gilt titles sitting within a deep, rich, red, blocked box, position nicely on the spine. Comes with a burgundy-coloured box, slipcase. The book looks like it's hardly been used or read, it is really good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. 213 pages, all intact, all pages, text and illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. The portrait of Sir William Temple is by Sir Peter Lely is reproduced by kind permission of the National Portrait Gallery and that of Dorothy Osborne, by an unknown artist, is from the Broadlands Collection. The text of this edition is used by kind permission of J.M. Dent and Sons and The Clarendon Press, of Oxford. A quality hardback book from The Folio Society and it would grace any stylish library.
